01:11
A constant magnetic field is dangerous, just like a direct current in a winding, it causes saturation of the magnetic circuit. In the small signal mode, this leads to a decrease in the inductance of the windings, sometimes very strong. And in the large signal mode (as in power supplies), nonlinear distortions of the current shape in the windings are added to this - when you enter the saturation region, the rate of its increase increases.
01:13
DC-DC converter and ADUMs have transformers, so theoretically this can be a problem, but it won’t take long to check)

this normally happen you have to reflow temperature chip

you can do short near to sensor 2 and start normal test than keep short RI and do temperature test gradually move forward you will find defective chip

In reply to this message
Hello !! First of all, I recommend that you clean the entire board with some contact cleaner or whatever you have on hand, and focus on the temperature sensors, clean them in depth. then dry well and try again to see if anything changes.
D
11:13
Dusty
the board is emaculately clean, I replaced a few chips, and also reflowed the whole board, it originally was finding 0 asic, now its finding 48 and dropping to 24 back up to 48 and so on.
K
11:15

In reply to this message
lol its so frustrating because how do you narrow down the problem when its constantly jumping around!
@
11:20
@Fiobello
In reply to this message
So you would recommend that you take out the heatsinks and individually look at those asics that are marking you in red, or they are overheated or sulfated or have some loose tin spot around them. and what did you do to make it stop dialing 0 asic?
11:24
you put the plates in cold and a fridge and try again. have to mark the programmer
D
11:24
Dusty
first thing I did is reflow the whole board, then I started at chip 24 and I injected 1.8vdc across a few different chips until I narrowed down the problem as described here: ( http://asicrepaircanada.ddns.net/index.php/Main_Page) replaced the bad chips and have double and triple checked for visual defects and cannot find anything obvious. Idk if its the boost circuit, the chips, the LDO. Idk where to start.
@
11:34
@Fiobello
In reply to this message
Excellent!! it's ok you solved the 0 Asic. now do the following please test the board the part of the temperature sensor that the programmer marks

whats the difference between running the temp sensor test and the normal test?

@Fiobello
How many amps is your power source?
A
11:41
ARC tester
To read the thermal sensors, addressing and setting up the chip registers is necessary, this is a advanced mode. In normal mode, only polling the number of chips.
11:43
In reply to this message
In your case, the board must first be repaired in the normal mode of the tester.
D
11:45
Dusty
its a 10 amp power supply, when the test is running its drawing about 4 amps.
A
11:46
ARC tester
in practice, there are a lot of random red chips, this is a malfunction on the RST or CLК line. Testing after cooling in the freezer also helps.
@
11:46
@Fiobello
In reply to this message
minimum a 10 amp source you have to use that is recommended
D
11:46
Dusty
In reply to this message
so why is the error jumping all over the board in normal mode? do i need to program something besides the eeprom?
A
11:48
ARC tester
In reply to this message
EEPROM has nothing to do with this. Nothing needs to be programmed. The problem is only in the board.
11:50
You need to look for an anomaly on the rst or clk bus with an oscilloscope
11:51
There may be more variants of malfunctions, but what I said is most likely from my point of view.
D
11:52

First chceck connector quality or resolder connector. Also you measure 3V3 , do not connect main voltage, is not necessary. If everything ok then change eeprom

Or chceck impedance on 3V3 from connector.
