The problem is that your board has a new EEPROM format, which we have not met yet, we have almost finished the work, there will be news soon

we tested the M30S, many of our clients are working with the M30S right now, apparently this is a revision unknown to us yet. We are already testing the solution, in the near future there will be an update with the addition of this type of EEPROM.

In reply to this message
the thermal sensors bus is connected to the chips and all data exchange with the sensors is carried out through the chips. If during the mining process the sensor stops responding, but the device mines, the problem is obviously in the chip-sensor interface. Most often this is a question of soldering the chip. The sensors themselves rarely fail.
KH
08:10
Kylie Jo Hamilton
So, to branch off his question, in the logs for antminers it typically gives you 1 of 4 chips numbers. Are those the chips that should possibly be resoldered or does it mean that another chip in that quadrant needs it and you gotta test around to find it?
A
08:13
ARC tester
In reply to this message
if the miner sees all the chips, then only the chips to which the thermal sensors are connected can be the culprits of the malfunction
KH
08:15
Kylie Jo Hamilton
And if it doesn’t mine but reads 65 on the arc, then it could be another chip in that quadrant? Or perhaps something else?
A
08:16
ARC tester
also in the latest models, Bitmain began to make boards with different types of sensors, one type is connected to i2c, the other is connected to the chip as before, keep this in mind
KH
08:17
Kylie Jo Hamilton
Hmm… thank you that’s actually very helpful
A
08:17
ARC tester
do you have a term that means that the chip itself does not respond, but passes all signals through itself without changing them?
08:18
we call such chips lazy
08:19
if there is such a chip on the board between chips with thermal sensors, this will shift the addressing, and the miner will interrogate the chip that does not have a sensor
KH
08:20
Kylie Jo Hamilton
Ha I have been trying to tinker with ways to test chips before replacement so that I can prevent this later. Often times tho, a chip and heatsinks will be replaced in a board and then put back in the machine after it passes the ARC test. It’ll usually run for a while and then completely stop mining and in the log it’ll give a temp sensor error code.
08:20
Aaahh okay
08:20
And no I didn’t know a term offhand for that.
A
08:21
ARC tester
unfortunately, no tester will be able to detect this without the participation of an engineer, for the tester, as well as for the miner, it looks like the absence of the last chip
08:22
In reply to this message

This is another M30s+ but every board we test says zero. It won't recognize the bin type or anything when it pulls up. I sent a photo of a board I know fully hashes with this version on it, the dump file and a photo of the results. I find it strange that it tests all these boards but says they are zero when they do in fact fully hash. I was wondering if you had any insight on this

Hi, can you please specify the model written on the top of the chips?
Is there an oscilloscope available for you? Would be nice if you could check the rx\tx signals
KH
09:27
Kylie Jo Hamilton
I’m not at work today unfortunately, if you’re talking to me. I do know that most of the models of Whatsminer I have tend to be the 1930 or 1950 chip models. It seems though that it’s the bins that are different and aren’t in the testers program. I also do have an oscilloscope, but I don’t know how to use it well and I’m the only person I know that has any electrical experience with these things so 😅
09:28
I will say tho, I have two forms of whatsminer testing. I have the ARC tester and then another one that is considered universal. Those boards test as fully hashing on the universal, but 0 on the ARC tester.

Typically if it gives a clock counter error and an asic chip number, there is a heat sink or chip that isn’t laying right and isn’t making the connection it needs to… if the board shows a clock counter error, and still runs, it is likely to do with the asic it gives. However, if the board drops when it gives the error, it’s likely a corresponding chip or heatsink that isn’t connecting on that particular quadrant of the board.

Seems like you have a broken microchip on the tester marked as U4
10:32
It's an Adum1402arwz, it works as a galvanic isolation to protect esp and other components inside the tester
10:33
Most likely you have a broken board that has more than 3,3v on one of the signal buses so the U4 worked its purpose
10:34
This is not a warranty case, however you can freely replace the U4 and continue using the tester
CN

just one observation...they should improve this part of the protection of this equipment...it is an expensive equipment and we don't know when a hash board is shorting the io input...me because I know how to change an integrated but I imagined a user who does not know anything about electronics and that he is only an operator ... it is tremendous, 3000 USD wasted ... then they should think of an automatic trigger system in the event of a short circuit in the io tape ... that the equipment protects for a few seconds and then it works again ..so the user will not take long to work and will not lose the money from the purchase ...well that's a constructive criticism ...we are very grateful that they have given us the support ..and that we can solve this inconvenience . ..thank you very much and we will buy the integrated one and wait to install it ..I only ask if it is possible for a video or instructions on how to open this test ...so as not to cause another problem ... thank you very much ...

The protection installed is the best available on the market rn. Unfortunately, there is nothing better in electronic components. Apart from protection, it should also reliably transfer the signal, so it's not that simple.
Checking for the possible shortages is one of the first steps in any diagnosis process. Answering your question, if the user is not very experienced he most probably should not use such complex and price equipment.
Glad we could help you in that case. Please, write us a message once you receive the microchip so we could send you the video of the unit disassembly.
